Gerry Angel founded Long-Term Insurance Services in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and began serving the
mature adult population in 1993. It was her own family experience when her Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1990
that made her realize the need for long-term care insurance and the importance of connecting with a licensed, knowledgeable
specialist to help with the selection process.
Unfortunately, much to her family's disappointment, Gerry's Dad could not obtain long-term
care insurance, since the diagnosis of Parkinson's had already been made. Even though her Dad was cared for at home by her
Mom for six years with some home care assistance, he eventually had to be placed in a nursing home for four years, costing
at that time, approximately $250,000. If only long-term care insurance could have been in place to pay for the cost of care!
As a result of this experience, Gerry developed an unwavering commitment to help others learn the importance of planning ahead
to meet future health care needs.
To prevent such a situation from occuring to you or your family, it is essential to consider
the appropriateness of long-term care insurance well before the need arises. Not only will the premiums be less expensive
since they are related to age at the time of application, but your chances of even obtaining the coverage will increase since
acceptance is contingent upon medical review. The longer you wait, the more your chances increase of developing a health condition
which may prohibit coverage. Throughout the years, Long-Term Insurance Services has provided hundreds of
clients, for whom LTCi was appropriate, with timely information and expert guidance to develop their own individualized LTCi
plan.
While
LTCi has been, and continues to be our "primary" work, our reputation was instrumental in us being contacted in
2004 by a major Medicare Advantage Insurance Plan to help service their prospective members. Using our same philosophy of
consumer advocacy, guidance, and education, we also assist individuals and families enrolled in Medicare understand their
options and make appropriate choices about their health insurance coverage.
Our health care and insurance knowledge in combination
with our experience, the quality of our service, accountability, and consumer advocacy, have earned us a deep level of trust
and respect with clients, families, and the organizations with whom we interact.
